Disconnected afternoon

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

We lost wireless and ethernet connectivity at work this afternoon for some odd reason. I walked into the hallway and was surprised to see everyone out of their hidey holes and socializing.

Yes, techies were actually socializing on a Wednesday afternoon. At work!

It’s usually just people running off to meetings (or the washroom) who frequent the halls.

And the usual delinquents, of course. (Not me, of course -_^)

I guess if you can’t stay networked one way, you have to network some other way.

Lucky for me the connection in the server room is still good. Feels like an oven in here :)

Down the mountain and out of the woods

I was in Vermont over the weekend for some breakneck skiing at Jay Peak over the weekend. ‘Twas my first time on real glade runs. Now let me tell you, skiing between trees on an incline when your life depends on it is the most fun I’ve had over the past little while. Nothing beats gliding through powder while swatting away stray low-lying tree branches and flying off little jumps.

Getting stuck in snow-filled creeks is fun too. Especially getting out of them. “Look before you leap” is overrated :)

Local hills won’t be the same… Looks like I’ll be booking more vacations to cold snowy places over the next little while :)
